networking

My network connection has dropped out twice tonight while uploading pictures. Yeah, it's a lot of data, but still, this is ridiculous. I'm not even really sure what is going wring; my networking skills are weak at best. My router did need an update, but when I tried that (after pausing everything else), it was taking forever, so I killed it. It's firmware, not a new OS.

I need more skills. Girls like guys with skills.

I just want to put vacation photos on the web!

You're running a server from home right? Just setup ZenPhoto on that thing and bam, you're good to go.

If you're uploading via wireless, make sure you don't use the microwave, it interferes with 2.4GHz pretty harshly.

I was a while ago, but I stopped. Easier to just use the cloud. And this was a wired connection. Perhaps I need to throttle digiKam's uploading, or something else was going on, I don't know really.

I kinda think I just have crappy upload speeds, and RCN is knocking me off after so much data in a short span of time, or something retarded like that, but I can't be sure.

I had a similar problem with sustained transfers with my parent's PC. In the end I just updated the firmware on the router and updated the network drivers on the PC, seemed to fix it. If that doesn't work, disable wireless in the router settings and then try again, I remember I used that as a workaround until I could fix the problem permanently.
